Professional DevelopmentThe District
Equity Coordinator’s responsibilities extend through
every aspect of district policies, programs, and
practices. One of the key responsibilities of the
District Equity Coordinator is to provide
professional development for staff and students to
make them aware of their rights under the
legislation. This responsibility is twofold:
- to ensure that equity related information about
policies, contact information, and informational
materials are disseminated to students, parents,
staff, applicants, and the community; and
- to arrange professional development for staff and
students that will assist them to carry out their
responsibilities under the law.
In the Davenport Community School District, equity
related information is disseminated in a variety of
ways: through student handbooks, brochures, the
website, informational materials available at each
building/facility site, community reports, and
newspaper publications. In addition, every
administrator is provided Talking Point
Presentations to share with staff and students about
where they can find equity related information.
These Talking Point Presentations are to be reviewed
at the beginning of each school year.
