Community Education

Through the collaborative efforts of the community and schools, community education fosters quality learning opportunities and collaborative problem-solving to enhance the quality of life of all Davenport citizens. The community education philosophy supported by the district promotes positive and strong communication while providing ways for meaningful involvement of the community in school and community needs. This includes creating opportunities for community members — individuals, schools, businesses, and public and private organizations — to become active partners in providing educational opportunities and addressing community concerns.

With rich community resources and services available, the Davenport Community Education program focuses on coordination of activities with many other community planning organizations such as the United Way of the Quad Cities, Scott County KIDS/Empowerment and the Eastern Iowa Community College District. Broad partnerships with youth and family service agencies and parent advocates results in a dynamic array of programs and services addressing the needs of youth, families and the community at large.
