MCKINLEY INITIATES RENOVATION PROJECT WITH WALLBREAKING

Students and staff are ready to swing sledgehammers at a wallbreaking ceremony at McKinley Elementary at 12 noon this Thursday, May 26th. This $1.9 million project (paid for with the Local Option Sales Tax) will include a new centralized media center and a heating system conversion from steam to hot water. There will be some renovations to the main office area and the old media center will be converted to classroom space.

Initial phasing for the project has begun, but most of the work will be accomplished over the summer months with completion set for September/October. McKinley families and staff are excited about these upcoming changes to their building. McKinley first opened in 1939. The architectural plans were designed to maintain the historical tradition of the building while improving use of space and security issues.
