CANDIDATE FORUM ON NOVEMBER 2ND

The Davenport Schools Legislative Advocacy Committee is hosting a forum for candidates running for office in the Iowa state legislature on Thursday, November 2nd, from 5 to 7 p.m. at McKinley Elementary. The event is sponsored by the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) and is co-hosted by the Davenport PTA Council and the local chapter of the American Association of University Women. Moderator will be Margaret Buckton, an advocacy expert with IASB.

The forum will feature a format where each candidate will respond to a series of previously provided questions relating to public education in Iowa. At this time, 11 candidates have confirmed their participation, including candidates from Districts 41, 43, 81, 82, 83, 94, and 85. Refreshments will be served and there will be the opportunity for a brief opportunity to meet candidates after the forum.
In coming weeks, the Davenport Schools Legislative Advocacy Committee is also planning a new legislator reception and dialogue, an 'Advocacy 101' Training session, and our third Hop on the Bus tour to the state capital later this year.
